What advice do you have for new members at Treeline?
Keep showing up. Certain skills will click right away, others wont. Some movements you will enjoy, some you won’t. But they all make you better. Communicate with your coaches, challenge yourself, and trust the programming. Honor and respect your body each and every day exactly where it is at. Don’t compare your weakness to another persons strength. Don’t compare your strength to another persons weakness. Work hard every day because you have the ability to. You are physically capable of moving your body to maintain your health, that is priceless.

She has been around sports her entire life. She grew up playing competitive soccer and her career as a college athlete ended in 2014. She graduated with my master's degree in business and my full-time job is working for the City of Eugene's IT department.
When she is not at work or in the gym, she is likely spending time with her favorite puppy and her husband!
She is thankful to have TreeLine as a home and to share that with her family, too! Especially her mom!

What is your favorite healthy meal and cheat meal?
Healthy: Rib eye, grilled veggies, and roasted potatoes
Cheat: No such thing as a cheat meal but for my occasional indulgences I prefer: pizza, a burger, or any amount of sweets cause... I like my sweets. Preferably cookies or cinnamon rolls.

Excited to learn more, Lindsey got her CF cert in 2017 at the Ranch! Lindsey is excited to help coach others to find what she found through CrossFit so many years ago.

Favorite healthy meal would probably be my go to lunch or dinner, shredded pork or chicken, rice, green beans, avocado and the best hot sauce, Cholula. Or steak dinner, although some may choose to argue that is not healthy. I disagree :)
Favorite cheat meal is usually dessert, I’ll go all the way with a brownie sundae, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, the whole deal.

Coach Aaron Smith

A native of the PNW, Aaron has been active his whole life. After a competitive swimming career throughout highschool and college, Aaron took to crossfit and never looked back. He uses his background in swim, modern dance, and stage combat to better tailor and translate the often obtuse language of crossfit to individuals who are new to the sport. It gives him great joy to educate people on how to better operate their bodies and to help athletes grow more confident, mobile, and stronger though accessible, inclusive fitness.

What is your favorite healthy meal and cheat meal?
For me, there isn't such a thing as a healthy meal or a cheat meal. Good diet and nutrition balances what satisfies your needs with that nourishes your body. As my mom preached, "eat everything in moderation", and so I do. I've learned to roast vegetables so they're delicious, I consume plenty of quality protein, and I satisfy my sweet tooth with a slice of apple pie so that I'm not mindlessly snacking on jellybeans.

Are you a Duck or a Beaver?

Duck!

What advice do you have for new members at Treeline?
The hardest part of starting your fitness journey is continuing your fitness journey. The resolve to get fit doesn't fade, but the motivation can. There are infinite, daily resistances to walking down the path of health: the weather, friends, work, feeling tired, feeling blue, invitations to get drinks, a tv show, etc. Prioritizing one's own health and fitness is the prerequisite to making the gym a habit. Making the gym your habit makes you fitter. Luckily, once one has habitual physical activity, going a day without it is out of the question. Learn to love it, and you'll get there!

Coach Catherine Pompei

Catherine joined Treeline in December 2020 after moving to Springfield from Tigard, Oregon.  She spent 25+ years running, completing 3 marathons and 100’s of 5 and 10k’s.  She started CrossFit 8 years ago and fell in love with it.   CrossFit helps her build and maintain strength so she can stay active as she gets older.  Catherine is now comfortable being uncomfortable in new situations which she attributes to CrossFit giving her confidence to not be afraid to try new things. She has a passion for people and helping them grow and develop. When she is not at Treeline you might find her bike riding the Eugene/Springfield trails, hiking or learning how to play pickleball with her husband and hanging out with her family including 5 grandkids.

What is your favorite healthy meal and cheat meal?
My favorite healthy meal is a BIG HUGE salad with chicken and lots of pistachios.
My favorite cheat meal is not really a cheat meal in my opinion but I love a simple nacho loaded with cheese, beans, some sort of protein and jalapenos (no yukky sour cream or guac!)

Are you a Duck or a Beaver?
Quack Quack!

What advice do you have for new members at Treeline?
Embrace it and keep an open mind.  Be open to feedback.  Walking through the door is hard and scary. There is so much to learn and it takes time so don’t be upset with yourself if you feel overwhelmed as you begin.  Be consistent and keep coming to class and you will see the results. Always remember you can modify the workout to suit your needs. The coaches and Treeline athletes want you to succeed in your fitness journey and will help you every step of the way.  You are also highly likely to make many new friends.

Coach Tony Martorano

Tony joined Treeline in January of 2024. A Central Oregon native born in Bend, Anthony (or Tony to most) moved to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon and discovered CrossFit in December of 2012. Tony’s initial draw to CrossFit stemmed from its many parallels to his high school athletic career and his constant drive to have a goal to work towards. Fortunately, CrossFit provides him with plenty of opportunities to get better, even 12 years later.
Tony obtained a Bachelors of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon in 2016 and spent 6 terms teaching and assisting in the human anatomy cadaver lab. Coaching and teaching has always filled the passion bucket for Tony, so coaching CrossFit came as a natural progression to his curiosity and desire to learn and pass that knowledge onto others.
Tony got his first opportunity to coach CrossFit at the University Rec center for a semester before obtaining his CrossFit Level 1 Certification in the spring of 2019. Tony has been coaching in both an individual and group setting nearly every day since then. In addition to CrossFit, Tony spent the better part of 2 years training and coaching the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.
Most recently, Tony has completed The Active Life Professional curriculum which focuses on creating Professionals that are capable of bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness.
Outside the gym, you’ll find Tony obscenely cheering for his favorite sports teams and spending time with his family and friends.

What is your favorite healthy meal and cheat meal?
It is a running joke amongst my friends and family that I eat the same thing every day, and that’s because for the most part, I do. My go-to meal is a fluffy pile of well-seasoned rice, a generous serving of ground beef, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, with some guacamole and hot sauce to top it off! If I get crazy, a slab of ribeye with a caesar salad leaves me satisfied.
My go-to cheat meal is an entire Hawaiian pizza with some ranch for dipping. Yes, I do believe pineapple belongs on pizza, sue me. I’m also a sucker for a well-balanced rye Manhattan on a single ice cube.

Are you a Duck or a Beaver?
Being a winner is fun. Go Ducks!

What advice do you have for new members at Treeline?
Growth begins just outside the margins of your comfort zone. Allow yourself to step outside the comfort of your current experiences. Begin simply by showing up. Lean on the staff to guide you towards your goals and immerse yourself into the community because they are here to support you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Frankly, ask more questions that seek to broaden your understanding of what CrossFit is and WHY we do what we do. Avoid letting ego drive your decisions inside the walls of the gym. Rather, approach training with curiosity, open-mindedness, and humility. Give yourself the permission to learn, to fail, and to succeed. And perhaps most important of all, remember that consistency matters.
